Kellogg-Third Street Bridge Traffic Details and Recommended Alternate Routes Announced

SAINT PAUL - The City of Saint Paul today issued a traffic alert for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians who use the Kellogg-Third Street Bridge and offered recommended alternate routes for motorists.

Bridge Closed to Public over the Weekend beginning Friday Morning

Beginning Friday, September 26, 2014 at 9:00 a.m., the Kellogg-Third Street Bridge between Mounds Boulevard and Broadway Street will be closed to all users until Monday, September 29, 2014 at 6:00 a.m.

Recommended alternate routes for motorists: Kellogg Boulevard traffic will be detoured to Mounds Boulevard, East Seventh Street and Jackson and Sibley Streets during the closure. Access to local parking lots in the vicinity of Kellogg east of Broadway will be maintained.

Bridge Re-opens with Reduced Lanes beginning Monday Morning

The bridge will re-open on September 29, 2014 at 6:00 a.m. with two westbound lanes into downtown, one eastbound lane and one narrower shared path for bicyclists and pedestrians. Lane restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.

Recommended alternate routes for motorists: For traffic entering the Saint Paul downtown area from westbound I-94, the city recommends using either the 6th Street exit or the 12th Street exit, instead of the Kellogg-Mounds exit.

For traffic leaving the downtown to access eastbound I-94, the city recommends the use of either the 6th Street Entrance ramp (at Broadway), or the 11th Street entrance ramp (at Jackson) to access eastbound I-94 instead of using Kellogg Blvd.

East Seventh Street is also available for users who wish to travel to or from downtown.

A map showing all recommended alternate routes will be available soon at www.stpaul.gov/Kellogg-ThirdStreetBridge.
