Cautious Re-Opening

On June 1st, Governor Tim Walz will give the go ahead to reopen some of Minnesota's businesses. As we move into Phase II of the Stay Safe MN plan, restaurants, bars, salons, and some religious institutions will be given the greenlight to begin operating at a reduced capacity - bars and restaurants are allowed sit down dining ONLY if they have or can wrangle outdoor patio space and salons and barbershops are limited to a max capcity of 25% or less in order to accomodate the 6 ft rule.

While many of us will continue teleworking for as long as we're able, property managers and building owners are putting into action safety plans and taking steps to open up their buidings for eventual re-entry.

  • MN's Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has put together this guidance with a checklist of requirements for employers. It covers worker protections and protocols: Health screening protocols, social distancing enforcement, worker hygiene, buiding ventilation, and best practices for minimizing transmission.

  • The BOMA Georgia Foundation is offering, free of charge, their 2020 Building Re-Entry Guide which is a curated list of essential resources to aid real estate professionals in adjusting building operations. Click to access here.
